Alana + Paul
Two Jack Lake Micro Wedding

Alana and Paul’s small wedding at Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park was planned in two weeks and could not have been any more delightful.

She wore a Ted Baker dress with bell sleeves and printed floral detailing at the hemline. He complimented her with a floral tie and pocket square. It was a casual day, with flats and sneakers. They got ready at their home in Calgary and caravaned out with their immediate families and a handful of friends who could make the last-minute nuptials, meeting in the Two Jack Lake parking lot. Watson their much-beloved dog was adorned with some ribbons that matched the pink detailing of her dress and hairpiece, and navy to compliment his tie and suit. Watson was less intrigued by the ribbons than by the scores of people he knew were much more likely to give him treats, particularly if he sat pretty. Once everyone had properly layered for the brisk March day we started for the lakeside.

Typically Two Jack Lake has a vista that overlooks the top of Rundle Mountain as it emerges from the Bow Valley beyond the edge of the lake, but on this day the clouds hung low, perhaps offering a tease of a few as the wind picked up. On the shore of a lake just starting to thaw, they were surrounded by their people and the ceremony began without pomp. It was a quick ceremony, their family looking on with so much joy, other than Watson who was more keen on food. A short and sweet ceremony as the wind blew off the frozen Two Jack Lake. Then they were announced married and were promptly wrapped in jackets and hats to warm themselves by before family portraits.

Following a handful of wedding portraits at Two Jack Lake, we made our way to Lake Minnewanka that was less accosted by the breeze. Alana changed into a pair of boots to better scale the rocks on the lakeshore. Then off they went to The Juniper Hotel for a lunch reception.
