I am so grateful to be a photographer, being asked to attend days in couples lives that are intimate, emotional, and vulnerable. Weddings are an honour, shadowing couples through the day, documenting tears during the vows, and laughter during the speeches. Births take the sentiment it to a different level. While I only photograph one or two a year, I leave every in a bit of a haze. A mixture of giddiness for the couple, emotional exhaustion from feeling sympathetic for the mum and understanding the helpful desperation of their partner to do whatever they can to help, and absolute wonder I have been asked to be a very small part of all that. So with all that being said, this isn’t my story. This is a story of Sancia and Mitchell‘s. Of laughing through the pain. Of a homebirth in a home that has been in the family since the 60s. Of welcoming their son.
Congratulations you three.
