Jason & Russell
Downtown Wedding

Oh what a day. Jason and Russell are two of the sweetest people and their love is so tangible. How they grasp each other’s hands, lean into each other, make each other laugh, simply makes my heart happy. To see two people so in tune with each other.

I so adored how they got ready in their apartment with their wedding party. Each helping with the finishing touches. Their ceremony was held at Knox United Church in the heart of downtown Calgary. An architectural marvel in a land of business buildings. A ceremony started by the two of them walking the other’s mother down the aisle. A promise to spend the rest of their lives together. Supporting each other and playing off each others’ strengths. After being pronounced married there was shuffling in the choir loft behind them. More than a dozen dressed in the colours of the rainbow. Then they sang. Russell and Jason had no idea. Absolute shock and delight.  Jason’s sister had arranged for them to come in and sing. Such a wonderful way to start their married life.

The reception was held in the basement of an art gallery. A unique set of pieces surrounding their guests as they enjoyed appies and cocktails. Touching speeches. Another surprise song. A first dance. A party.

Congratulations you two!

Top-notch work from beginning to end. Great documentary style that sets the mood, especially as b&w are generally moodier, to begin with. Fantastic work.
