Trisha and Matt – The Engagement

Such a delightful engagement session. Trisha and Matt were so kind in allowing us just to meander through the town of High River, no particular destination in mind, just taking in the sights and sounds. We were there on a Sunday and it was eerily quiet. Anyone who drove by would somewhat curiously stare but wouldn’t say a word. All but one or two shops were closed in the area and I swear there should have been some tumbleweed blowing down the street.

Trisha and Matt are getting married at Emerald Lake Lodge in September and I am so thrilled to be their photographer. They are such a fun and loving couple. Enjoy!

Megan and Cody – The Engagement

Oh Megan and Cody. So much to say about Megan and Cody. They are such a fun-loving genuine couple. Honestly, I am certain I haven’t laughed more at a session than I did with these two.

How they met is such a delightful story. Megan caught Cody’s attention at the local hockey rink in Lethbridge – rather, Megan’s hair caught Cody’s attention at the local hockey rink in Lethbridge. He says he did not even see her face but he knew he had to meet this girl with the gorgeous red hair (and it is eh?!). It required mutual friends to introduce them but as we can all see now it’s a love story.

Ashleigh and Steve – Bragg Creek Engagement Photography

Ashleigh and Steve met here in Calgary but are getting married next year on the east coast and it is going to be a marvelous day for them.

She’s from Alberta. He’s from Arkansas. They met by chance at a concert in Illinois.

They love camping, hiking, road trips, and plaid shirts. They like to write music and cook together. They also play banjo.

Haley and Ryan – Vancouver Engagement Photographer

The way he makes her laugh. Oh the way he makes her laugh!

Ryan and Haley have to be made for each other. The way they just look at each other and burst into laughter. I am seriously grinning from ear to ear as I post these – their laughter and smiles and grins just radiate that much.

Haley and I have been emailing for a few months now discussing the possibility of doing an engagement session, however, both timing and location were proving to be a problem. So, when I decided to make a relatively last minute road trip to the west coast I was delighted to hear we could make it happen! Due to work schedules and a jaunt to Washington we decided to go ahead with a mini session which ended up being less than half the time of a normal engagement session. I think we can all see the naturalness of Haley and Ryan made that shortened time very usable!

When the light was long gone we went for coffee and the best key lime pie I have ever had (and I am quite a fan of key lime pie). I seriously feel like I could have known these two for several years as opposed to an hour.

How lucky am I to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding this coming May? Very. Very very!

Suzy and Simon – Lake Louise Wedding Photography

Words can hardly describe just how beautiful of a day it was when Suzy and Simon pledged their lives to each other in front of their closest family and friends. Not only was the ceremony and reception at one of the most beautiful places in North America, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, but more importantly every detail and moment spoke of the deep connection between these two and George. What I absolutely love about this couple is despite coming all the way from Bermuda and family flying in from as far away as England, with the weather forecast predicting torrential rain until mid-Friday, they decided to thoroughly enjoy the day whatever came their way. Luckily Alberta provided its predictably unpredictable weather and it was downright gorgeous.

Lauren from Rocky Mountain Weddings did a fabulous job with the details and the Fairmont provided an amazing meal.

Thank you so much Suzy, Simon and George for giving me the opportunity to capture your special day – I can not be more thrilled for your family.

Charlene and Les – Canmore Couple Photography

Les and Charlene were married last week in their backyard in the beautiful town of Canmore. Sometimes, I can not see why people do it differently – those quaint, intimate ceremonies are just so amazing. Les had contacted me earlier in the summer about the possibility of doing a couple session with himself and Charlene after the wedding day. I was given the heads-up that they might be a bit of a challenge to photograph – nothing could have been farther from the truth.

Family of Six – Calgary Family Photographer

So first let me reassure you all that I am alive after the 60km walk for the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers and blister free! It was an absolutely amazing weekend and the weather held out perfectly. If you have had any inclination to do it next year, do! You are kind of mildly pampered and get to explore some nice little niches of your city all while raising money for a great cause!

I am so excited to share these. So excited that when I had just finished putting together the images and this little write-up, the power went out for an hour and all I could think about was how much I needed internet access to get it up. I met with Leah Wood and her family south of Calgary as they are making their way down to Disneyland. Dunstan and Leah’s four kids were an absolute riot and made my job quite fun.

Two Plus Two Toddlers – Calgary Family Photographer

Shauntel and I have been emailing back and forth since the beginning of the year hoping to set up a time for me to photograph her gorgeous family of four. But of course with travels, weather and life in general we finally got around to it. Thank goodness because it was a blast!

I first photographed Shauntel and Matt as a couple when I was first delving into photography and you can always be sure to have a good time with them. The fun is now doubled (or squared if you prefer)! We met at Nose Hill Park (where oddly enough neither of us had been) and wandered and took in the amazing light. Here is just a sampling of the day – the rest will be posted later this summer.
