I have to confess something. I have been neglecting my blog something dreadful. There are weddings to be posted and sneak peeks to be made. I have to confess something else. After being chosen to document peoples’ weddings, families and life events the next best thing to me is blogging. I love it. I love choosing the images that will best tell the story of the day or session. I love being able to press that ‘publish’ button. Blogging is pretty much the definition of therapeutic for me. So, on that note, the lack of blogging is not on account of boredom but rather the lack of proper time in a day. When and if you come across extra time please some my way. That would be absolutely lovely.

On that note I couldn’t help throwing together this small(esque) blog post at 5:30am. This family makes me smile so much.

Gabriella – Calgary Newborn Photographer

Brooke and Ramiro welcomed beautiful little Gabriella Linda into their home earlier in September and I could not be more happy for them! Brooke and I attended junior high together and of course was delighted to photograph their little girl. It truly was a pleasure, Gabriella was asleep for nearly the entire time and would just let out the sweetest little cooing sound as she slept. Heart melt!

Tutu and Pearls -Southern Alberta Family Photography

Thank you Alberta weather so being so miserable on the day we had originally planned and so beyond marvelous on Friday. I promise you photographers dream in evening light. This gorgeous family (I am pretty sure I could refer to them as Brad, Angelina and Shiloh and no one would know the better) made the trek out to this completely random location I had found earlier in the summer – but I am pretty sure it was worth it!

Poor little B wasn’t overly convinced that photography was a good way to spend her Friday but she totally rocked it (and the tutu, and the pearls) with her mom and dad. Such a classy family!

I hope everyone is having a grand time on their long weekend!

So first let me reassure you all that I am alive after the 60km walk for the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers and blister free! It was an absolutely amazing weekend and the weather held out perfectly. If you have had any inclination to do it next year, do! You are kind of mildly pampered and get to explore some nice little niches of your city all while raising money for a great cause!

I am so excited to share these. So excited that when I had just finished putting together the images and this little write-up, the power went out for an hour and all I could think about was how much I needed internet access to get it up. I met with Leah Wood and her family south of Calgary as they are making their way down to Disneyland. Dunstan and Leah’s four kids were an absolute riot and made my job quite fun.

Two Plus Two Toddlers – Calgary Family Photographer

Shauntel and I have been emailing back and forth since the beginning of the year hoping to set up a time for me to photograph her gorgeous family of four. But of course with travels, weather and life in general we finally got around to it. Thank goodness because it was a blast!

I first photographed Shauntel and Matt as a couple when I was first delving into photography and you can always be sure to have a good time with them. The fun is now doubled (or squared if you prefer)! We met at Nose Hill Park (where oddly enough neither of us had been) and wandered and took in the amazing light. Here is just a sampling of the day – the rest will be posted later this summer.

Family of Four – Calgary Family Photography

Jenn and I have been in contact numerous times for the past half year and were finally able to set up a date for their family shoot. All I can say is that this family is one you would want to be your next door neighbours. Not only are they completely and utterly connected to each other, but they know how to have a ton of fun.

It’s a hard job being beautiful! I just love real moments such as these.

When asked what his favourite book of all time was Jayden pulled out “Where the Wild Things Are” – good choice I must say! I haven’t had the chance to see the movie but fell in love with the book the first time I picked it up in my Grade 1 library.

I wouldn’t usually categorize myself as a family photographer however I couldn’t turn down Annie when she emailed me to photograph her absolutely adorable boy (she even attached a photo… there is now way anyone could say ‘no’ to this face! They are in big trouble when he grows up I think!). So between me heading off to Thailand for a month and a half, weddings, and their family trips we finally scheduled a time to meet. Right before his first birthday.

These next two crack me up. One year olds are typically quite animated but Levi had me grinning from ear to ear throughout the entire session with his antics.

Yes, these are all his eyes. Not touched in any way. I couldn’t help but commenting he had ‘thai eyes’. Thai kids have eyes that are just like mirrors.. so does Levi. Jealous!
