I have to confess something. I have been neglecting my blog something dreadful. There are weddings to be posted and sneak peeks to be made. I have to confess something else. After being chosen to document peoples’ weddings, families and life events the next best thing to me is blogging. I love it. I love choosing the images that will best tell the story of the day or session. I love being able to press that ‘publish’ button. Blogging is pretty much the definition of therapeutic for me. So, on that note, the lack of blogging is not on account of boredom but rather the lack of proper time in a day. When and if you come across extra time please some my way. That would be absolutely lovely.

On that note I couldn’t help throwing together this small(esque) blog post at 5:30am. This family makes me smile so much.

Kate and Luke | Calgary Wedding

These two are such a delight and I could not be more pleased that they now call themselves husband and wife. Kate and Luke were married at the Pinebrook Golf Club on the outskirts of Calgary, overlooking the Elbow River with their families and close friends. The day began at Kate’s mother’s house where the girls enjoyed mimosas and Starbucks. They chose to do a first look – a part of a wedding day I just adore, and the look of absolute joy on both of their faces was priceless. The early evening ceremony was the definition of picturesque and the reception a time of great food, conversation, reflections on the two of them. Following their first dance Kate and Luke asked for all of their guests to join them on the dancefloor to kick of the party. I can’t help but grinning going through their photos and remembering their wedding day as it unfolded.

Antara and Mike | Edmonton Engagement

This past week I had the delight of meeting with Antara and Mike for the first time over dinner before we braved the mosquitos and threatening clouds for their engagement session. Needless to say I am thoroughly excited for their wedding next week at the Fairmont Banff Springs.

Hurrah. Another announcement of sorts.

Photography is such a personal venture. Every shoot I learn more, I develop more, I love it more. Truly I grow every time I pick up a camera. I have started a separate blog to post my personal work and thoughts – in short it’s really a continuation of the work you see here. You’ll see I have added a link to it in the menu (look up, further up, okay a bit to the right now. Perfect. Right there). It’s called Wandering Homebody.

Trisha and Matt – The Engagement

Such a delightful engagement session. Trisha and Matt were so kind in allowing us just to meander through the town of High River, no particular destination in mind, just taking in the sights and sounds. We were there on a Sunday and it was eerily quiet. Anyone who drove by would somewhat curiously stare but wouldn’t say a word. All but one or two shops were closed in the area and I swear there should have been some tumbleweed blowing down the street.

Trisha and Matt are getting married at Emerald Lake Lodge in September and I am so thrilled to be their photographer. They are such a fun and loving couple. Enjoy!

Tammy and Jonas – Barcelo Los Cabos Destination Wedding

Tammy and Jonas’ wedding – way to make all of the guests nearly bawl. So in love.

These two were married at the gorgeous Barcelo Los Cabos Palace Deluxe by Jonas’ father. One of the most relaxed weddings I have had the pleasure of witnessing and a wedding party that was up for absolutely anything. From the personal touches such as all of the parents ‘giving’ Tammy away at the ceremony to the bridesmaids being referred to as BFFs – it was one of those occasions you can not help but smile when remembering.

Of all of the guests that were present on their special day – two very important people were missing. Tammy’s grandfather and aunt passed away this year. In remembrance of them the wedding party released balloons overlooking the ocean as a tribute to their memory. In addition, as the chosen wedding donation couple, their wedding package will be donated to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, which aids in cancer research, prevention, treatment and care.
